Yury Shchekochikhin Foundation is non-profit charity organization established in 2017 in Moscow by Konstantin Shchekochikhin and Dmitry Shchekochikhin, sons of “Legend of Russian Journalism”, investigative reporter, combating corruption since perestroika time until his mysterious death, writer and politician, PM, represented Yabloko party in Russian Parliament, Yury Petrovich Shchekochikhin (1950-2003).
The main goal of the Foundation is support of journalism in risk and in trouble, including social and legal support, as well as protection of free word and free journalism, and organization of legal education, professional training sessions, open discussions, festivals, publications, conferences, and other cultural and other activities.
Main slogan of the founders is idea of journalism as public good and ideal of mission of journalists as watch dogs of democracy and professional solidarity.
Partners of the Foundation are Yabloko party, Mass Media Defense Center, Golden Film Studio and other organizations.
Presidents of the Foundation are Konstantin Shechochikhin and Dmitry Shchekochikhin.
Director is Nadezhda Mosina.
